A glowing box of rainforest in the midst of the traffic chaos along Vienna's inner city beltway is a magnet for all passersby. The artist Sylvie Proidl has devoted her work to threatened habitats, and primary rainforests are a particular focus. The rainforest - locked in, confined under glass, kept alive solely in artificial laboratory conditions - is designed to remind spectators about the importance of untouched nature.
