Introduction by: Mag. Thomas Hansmann, solution oriented consultant
Ilse Schrottenbach's work focuses on stone sculptures that allude to rotational bodies. Archaic forms whose lines and surfaces melt into one another in smooth curves create the impression of endless motion. The sculptures do in fact rotate around their own axis, underlying the transformational theme.
Sylvie Proidl's work here is devoted to the Foz de Iguazu waterfalls in Brasil. Large-format paintings in oil transform the vertical falls into cinemascopic water landscapes. Installation spaces with painted transparent gauze curtains and the shadow projection rainforest_up_in_the_air round off this exhibition.
Archaic forms, transformation and movement characterize the convergence of the artwork by Proidl & Schrottenbach.
